Rainy Weather & Big Accomplishments

It has been a busy last couple days here at my home. It has been raining here in my part of Ohio and luckily it has stopped right now and the sun is peeking through the clouds. It is so nice to see Mr. Sunshine!! Good thing my husband got the lawn mowed before all the rain moved in. It was looking a bit shabby and those dandelions are driving me crazy. Luckily my husband is going out this weekend to get some fertilizer with weed control so those bad boys should be gone very soon!! I take such pride in my flower beds and my lawn so when I see 1 dandelion..... I start to go crazy (lol). Ok, I am not that bad, but it does drive me crazy. I just hate those things! So, with the weather being less then pleasant this week, I took advantage of the rainy days and worked on some thrift store buys. You all remember that ugly brown spice rack that I bought this week at the thrift store - right? Well, I decided to go with a black and here is a finished picture. I am definitely pleased with it, but now I just need to add the decorations to this pretty prim thing. The ideas that I had planned are definitely going to work so I am pretty excited about starting to decorate it. Stay Tuned for those pics!

I purchased these plain wood bowls awhile back from the TS and after seeing Janene finish her bowls yesterday...... well, it gave me the get up and go to finish mine. Here are some pictures of my bowls. I did one in yellow ochre and of course added the walnut gel stain and the other one that I did was buttermilk with walnut gel stain. The bowls were a tad bit different in color when I bought them from my local TS, but they both are the same size so that works out just fine. I have one more to finish up, but I am currently waiting for the super glue to dry. Yep, if you have been following me for awhile then you probably remember that bowl that I dropped in the parking lot that had a chip out of it. The good news is that once I get it painted and stained then you probably won't ever recognize that it has been broken. Well, here are the pictures of my bowls. I love how they turned out. I am very pleased with these cute prim bowls.
This buttermilk bowl was easier to work with then the yellow ochre bowl. This bowl had no finish on it at all as with the buttermilk...... it had a lacquer of some sort that I had to sand off. Have you ever tried to sand a bowl. Uh yeah, it was a tad bit difficult to say the least, but in the end it worked out ok. I think the buttermilk bowl is my favorite!! My other remaining bowl will be painted a red.

Oh yes........ certainly I had to show you these old sap buckets that I bought for $5.00 each at an Antique Show that we had here recently in Ohio. I can't tell you what I am going to use them for, but STAY TUNED for the exciting turn out with these great sap buckets. I have great BIG wonderful plans for them and hopefully I can get started this weekend. If the weather stays nice or even if I just have a little time then I might be able to get started with this project. I have been wanting to get started, but with the rain, it has put a damper on my plans. I bet none of you prim gals will ever be able to figure out what I am going to do with them. Kris....... Shhhhh, don't be sharing with anyone what I shared with you in my e-mail. This is TOP SECRET until it is done and completed. Ok girlie!?!
Well, May is here and my birthday is very soon!! Hmmm, could it be time for a GIVEAWAY? I unfortunately missed my 100th post, but perhaps I could make up for it with a BIRTHDAY GIVEAWAY. Yep, I will be 34 years old on May 22nd and I can't believe it. It seems like yesterday when I was roller skating with my sister in our basement, riding our Big Wheels in the driveway, swimming every day of the summer and enjoying every day of not having a single responsibility or a care in the world. Well, I am all grown up and have my own family and a house to call my own. I have definitely done alot for myself over these 34 years. My biggest accomplishment until 2 years ago was buying my house ALL ON MY OWN. Talk about a HUGE accomplishment and then I met my husband on a blind date and then along came Cameron. Indeed my son is my BIGGEST accomplishment. I went through alot to conceive him and he is definitely my whole world. My bright sunshine!! I see so many ladies in blogland that are expecting babies or are expecting grandbabies and I am so thrilled for them!!! It is indeed a very special time and I just ask that you cherish every single minute of motherhood or in some cases Grandmahood (hahaha, that sounds funny). Anyway, I will be doing a giveaway around my birthday so stay tuned! Oh, just think it could be something nice and prim from Amish Country. Now how great would that be? Yep, I think it would be a rather delightful birthday celebration for me!! So, get ready and STAY TUNED!! More info to come.

Lisa,

I get so excited over bowl makeovers the most, I think, because they just definitely are so prim and so versatile! Love those! What brand is your yellow ochre paint and where do you find your walnut gel stain?

And 34...you're just a young chic! :)

Also love the shelf makeover and can't wait to see it all accessorized!

Have a great weekend!

YEAH it got fixed!!! Your bowls turned out wonderful as usual. We've been having rain here in Maryland the past couple of days also but it's warm out. So that counts for something. We're off to the beach again.

Lisa, The bowls turned out great. I like the shelf too. I can't wait to see your pics with stuff in it. I can identify with the age thing. Just remember that's not old at all anymore 50 is the new 30. You're still so young! Age is definately a state of mind for many people.

Oh to be 34 again and know what I know now! :D

I love the bowls. I wish I could find some around here. Maybe at the 100 mile yard sale on Memorial Day. I always look forward to seeing your projects.
