More Goodies From Mom & A Thrift Store Buy

I forgot to post pictures of some of my goodies that I received from my Mom when I went to visit her for Mother's Day. She decided to clean out some of her totes that were in the basement and I was thrilled as to what she was willing to give me. Who wouldn't love some stitcheries - right? My favorite one is the Mud Pie Recipe. If you noticed it says Clara Mae on the bottom of it and that was my Grandma's name. I am definitely going to display that one proudly here in my home. It would be cute in Cameron's room - don't you think? I also thought that it would look cute by our back door too, but we will have to wait and see. I just love the way the picture frames look as well. So prim - don't you think? My Mom also gave me the Primitives sign which I am sure I will be able to find a home for. They all fit my decor perfectly!!

I truly enjoyed my day yesterday. I had nothing to do and my husband was umpiring some softball games which is does frequently so I took advantage of Cameron being down for a nap and worked on some of my projects that I had to do. I needed to work on the gift that I was making for Kris. She was the lucky one to win my giveaway. I was also working on something else that totally became one HUGE mess!! I decided to work on a game board that was going to be red over black. Well, it turned out wonderfully. I sanded it and stained it and then you could barely see my checkerboard. Oh, it was a mess SO I ended up sanding that off and re-doing my game board. Gotta love it when you learn lessons (lol). I also stopped by the Goodwill store tonight and luckily the butting board that I passed up a couple days ago was still there. I put it down before because it was so filthy and dirty that I was afraid to even pick it up, but it was screaming my name to take it home and give it a makeover so for 50 cents..... I picked it up ever so gently and carried it to the counter. I scrubbed it down with an SOS pad, let it dry and sanded the heck out of it. OH - this thing was so gross and I can't believe that I bought it, but after I am done with it........ it will look worth more then just 50 cents. Here is a picture of the gross cutting board. I already took the metal cheese sign off of and it had rubber legs on the bottom of it and I took those off as well. Stay Tuned for a much improved make-over on this bad boy. It definitely needed it and it is on it's way to a new and improved prim life (lol).
I will also be sharing pictures of a new sign and game board that I have been working on. My Mom requested the sign and I am sure that if any of you are Yellow Ware collectors then you will probably LOVE the sign. I know that I was pretty thrilled with the way that it turned out and hopefully you all will be impressed too!

Lisa,

I love all the goodies from your mom. The mud pie one would look too cute in a boys room. I love the bittersweet one too. I try to get some every year. I want to plant some eventually. I don't blame you a bit about that cutting board sometimes they look a little bit too used.

Okay, can I adopt myself into your family? LOL I wish my mom had great goodies like that to give away, but she's definitely not into prim.
Can't wait to see how the cutting board turns out!!

Have a great day, Lisa!

I wonder why people don't take a few seconds to clean something up before donating it? I guess they know some prim freak out there will do it for them. LOL (Me included). I can't wait to see your yellow ware sign. I just love yellow ware!!! Love your samplers also. Take care.

I think it is really cool that your mom likes the prim stuff too. You don't always find that you have that in common with them. It is really great that she passes her stuff to you! Have fun with them! Jayne
