TS Finds & Decorating

Well, I have tried posting this for about 30 minutes now and every time I load pictures, the lightening hits and the computer shuts down. Gotta love April showers or maybe I should say April storms (lol). Well, last week I went to the TS only to find another firkin. Yep, you heard me correctly. I was thrilled, but it definitely needed some work and re-vamping. I took off the metal cover on the front and sanded it a little bit and set it aside.
I also found these little shelf sitters, but I am definitely not going to keep them like this. Oh - don't get me wrong, I love gardening, but I bought them for other reasons. So, stay tuned for a makeover on these bad boys. I can't wait to get working on them.
Well, here is my shelf that I got when visiting my Mom and Dad this weekend. I just love it and well I had so much fun decorating it last night. Doesn't my firkin look too cute up there with my greenery? I am still debating on whether or not to prim it up, but for right now I think it looks great up there. I will be sure to keep you posted on what I do with that firkin. OH - do you all see my old hay pitch fork? I thought it looked great up there and all the goodies just added a special touch to it. I love the onion basket that I purchased from Pam hanging up there. I thought it looked primtastic!! Everything just adds a final touch to make it look prim perfect!

I think I am FINALLY satisfied with my entry way. I am still slowly working on my laundry room, but my entry way is completed for right now. So, what do you all think?
Another item that I came home with this past weekend was this old grain scoop. I got it from my Mom's friend Sara. She has her own little shop and well I spotted it and asked if she would be willing to part with it and she said "yes". It is funny because it wasn't even for sale, but I knew it would have great potential in my family room and indeed it does. I touched it up with a little paint and also decided to touch up the lettering as well. It was so faded and well I was ready for it to pop. I was pretty happy with what I did to give it a new and improved look, but still make it look a little prim.
Here is the BEFORE picture......
Here is the AFTER picture.....doesn't it look great? Don't you love it?
The towel hanging from the grain scoop says.....
"Happiness depends upon ourselves".
Wow - if that isn't a true saying!!

Lisa,

Your shelf looks great! I love everything you have displayed on it!!

Boy, you sure have luck at the TS. I hardly ever come across great finds. I must go on the wrong day.

I can't wait to see what you do with the shelf sitters.

I have a blog now (simplyprim.blogspot.com) It's not completely done. I'm slowly learning how to add features. I may need to email you to get pointers!! Hoepfully I'll post my first blog in a day or two.

P.S. What did you have good at Rebecca's this time? LOL

Lisa,
Everything looks fantastic. Your entryway really came out great. Love your new prims, too. I've got my eye on an antique firkin that I may have to get ~ I never, ever see them at the thrift stores. You must have a great TS by you. Have a great week.

I love, love, love it all! Your entry way looks primfect!!! Shelves are one of my favorite things and would have them everywhere if I could. I definitely want more for the living room and our bedroom and the other bedrooms upstaris as well. You can just stuff them full!!! ;)

Hmmm~makes you wonder if those that are parting with their firkins actually know what they are getting rid of? What luck you have had in finding another one.

This is my second time in trying to get on and comment on your last post. You work so fast girl! (lol) I loved all of the things that you brought back from your trip to Amish country.

Now that the weather is hopefully getting warmer and will continue to get warmer, the auctions have already started and the garage sales will too. I am so excited!!! We will have to go together some time. Do they have community ones around where your parents are? We have some really great ones around here! :)

Love and hugs,
Stacey

What great finds. Your firkin looks great. I found a tiny firkin a week or so ago and painted it up but haven't waxed it yet. That's one more thing on my to do list.

More beautiful treasures from Lisa....and how lucky to find the Firkin...I don't think people know the collector value of these and just toss them out.

Love everything you did with your purchases....love the grain scoop for sure.

Hi Lisa,
Another Firkin!!...you lucky girl. There is one at a TS that I want, but he wants $95.00 for it. More than I want to pay.
Love the old grain scoop! And your entry-way look wonderful!!
Yes, we should do lunch and hit the shops together here sometime. After this rain goes through it is going to get nice and be in the upper 60's to low 70's...so we should have some good weather if we want to get together sometime soon.
hugs, Cindy
