A Whole New Look & Some Fall Decorations

I am definitely pleased with my paint job!  I am tired and worn out and still not feeling up to par, but I knew that since it was the long Labor Day weekend then I needed to take advantage of the time that I had and paint the family room wall and entry way.  I knew I also wanted to paint the hallway as well, but didn’t know I was going to do it this weekend.  As soon as I got started, I knew I had to finish it off and do it all.  So, that is what I did.  I sent my sweet hubby out for more paint and listened to him complain for a little while after he got home, but it was all good.  He made it completely clear that he didn’t want to help at all, but wanted to watch the OSU game instead.  That was understood, but I still needed his help for a few things.  Oh, you would have thought I asked him to jump off a bridge or something or sit in a room full of birds.  Uh yeah, he is terribly afraid of birds so that is one thing he hates!  Anyway, I listened to him complain and then I finished the job of painting.  Here are some more pictures of the finished job.  I am still in the process of finishing the decorating, but it is a start.  Here is my entry way and I am all done decorating it.

It is odd because every picture that I take, the paint takes on a different look.  Did you notice that I changed my bittersweet on my bench?  I found some that I have had for some time and when I found it, I knew that the old needed to go.  I think that the new bunch looks alot better!  Here is a close-up.

Alot of you have asked me about the Bittersweet pattern and I am sorry to say that I did not stitch it and my Mom actually gave it to me so, I am pretty sure she bought it from some gal in Amish Country already completed and in the frame, but I would be happy to ask her for all of you.

Here is my new decorations in my cubby above my fireplace.  I think it turned out pretty cute.  Unfortunately, since we don’t have a basement then all of our wiring has no place to go.  So, I have to hide all the cable wire and such behind all of my prim decorations.  Ya gotta work with what you have sometimes.

The above picture is how I had it, but then I ended up changing out my dolls.  I ended up liking the prairie doll a bit more.  What do you think?

Did I mention that this post was full of pictures?  Well, you might want to grab a coffee, tea, or Diet Dr. Pepper and enjoy the rest of these pics.

Oh, I re-decorated my hallway downstairs and this is as far as I have gotten.  It looks crooked, but it isn’t on the wall.  What do you think?  I thought it looked nice.  Now my other ideas include putting my game-boards in my hallway leading down to this, but I am just not sure yet.  So, those pictures are coming soon.  Question - Where do you all put your family pics and your pictures of your children?  I was thinking my hallway, but I was also thinking about the stairwell area.  I just can’t figure out if I want my pictures in my hallway or my game-boards.  What do you think?

I also finally hung this up on the wall.  I thought that the bittersweet looked great in it.

Did I tell you that I finally was able to decorate my new farm table?  Well, I decorated it last night and it looks primtastic and full of color.  I love it!!  I forgot to tell you….. it isn’t going to be shown quite yet.  I wouldn’t want to overload you all on pictures so early in the week (lol).  So, on my next post, I will be featuring my farm table or possibly my family room or maybe both.  Anyway, it should be a great post.  I know that alot of you have inquired about my family room and how you never see any pictures of it.  I guess you could say that it is always scattered with toys plus it isn’t too fancy.  We sit on and enjoy some comfortable furniture , but I thought I would finally share it with all of you since you asked.  Stay Tuned!!

Until Next Time……Have a Happy & Blessed Day!

Everything looks great, as always! The paint color really makes the entryway look airy and bright!

Love the black wall cabinet with the bittersweet in the bottom. Looks perfect!

As for family photos, I have a few special ones in our livingroom, but try not to photograph them when I take pics to share. For safety reasons, I no longer show pics of my family.

My computer room/vintage doll room has the majority of the ones I display. This room already has the computer and a small stereo, so this is where I put a lot of things that do not fit in with the prim stuff.

Have a great week!

Lisa,

The painting looks great and I think it was worth the effort. My Dh is just like yours, hee, hee. But they love us just the same.

The gameboards or family pics dilemma, I'm right there with you on that one. I guess it depends on how many you have of each and where they would fit best in the spot. Good luck!

Hi Lisa!....I hope you are getting over your cold or sinus problem and that you are feeling much better. It looks like you did a marvelous job with the painting! I don't know how you do it without much help! Aren't you glad you chose the deeper tone of paint? I think it looks great! Your decor is wonderful too! You asked where we all keep our family pictures and our's hang on the walls in one area of the dining room. In our old house there was a long hallway that led to the bedrooms which was better suited for all of the portraits we have of our boys but this house doesn't have an area like that so in the dining room they are! I think your stairwell sounds like a good place for your's!

Your decorating looks wonderful and is it a law that our hubbies get bent out of shape when we ask them to do a little something? LOL
I know they get over it fast but it seems to be a thing they do very good...and often...lol
Oh, but thank goodness for them, huh?
Mine, like yours would bend over backwards to help with almost anything as long as I knew it was being objected to....LOL

Now you are certainly a good one for teasing you know that don't you???

Love the bittersweet and wish I had some more too. Mine died long ago and now I guess I have to make a trip to the country perennial farm to get some.

Loved your post today (as usual)
Hugs, Karen

It all looks great, I love the gathering with the prairie doll, it is charming!

Isn't it funny how after you paint it makes everything look so new and fresh, and for me then I start looking at other rooms and think NO, you cannot start! My project will be my bedroom, I painted it 3 years ago, the color was not at all like the color chip, it is more of a toothpaste green, NOT what I wanted! I am going to go for a light tan color, I want to do the bedroom in white/beige/brown with touches of barn red! That is my dream.

I really like your hallway! The color is wonderful and your decorating looks great on it! I always hated halls but almost wish I had one after seeing yours! I think the bench goes there really well. Can't wait to see your decorated table. Jayne

Everything looks wonderful, Lisa. Can't wait to see your table. It's so hard to capture the right colors in pictures, isn't it?

Lisa,
Everything looks wonderful!! About family photos or gameboards...I'm putting game-boards in my hallway and the family photos are in frames that sit..and they are in our family room on the book-shelf. I have our wedding photo hanging in our master bedroom in an antique frame that my MIL gave to us.
Did you get the bad storms tonight? It was really bad here!! Take care.

You've done a fantastic job, Lisa (I knew you would!) I, too, have wondered what everyone does with their photos...in most of the prim home pics I never see photos! I have paint purchased but have yet to get my dh started. (my walls are too high for me to do alone) I can't wait to see how you've decorated your farm table..although, I thought it couldn't look any better! :-)
