Thrift Store Goodies & Paint

I haven’t found much at the thrift store lately.  It has been rather disappointing seeing as though I go every Friday and never leave with a single thing.  I did however go this past week and ended up with a set of wood bowls.  I personally am not a big fan of finishing the bowls, but once they are completed they normally look primtastic!  So, I bought the set of bowls which included 8 small bowls and a large bowl and then it also included  a wooden fork and spoon.  I am assuming that someone used the wood bowls for salad, but I myself wouldn’t use wood bowls for salad.  Would you?  Anyway, here are a couple pictures of the bowls.  I will finish them when I am able, but at least it gives you an idea as to what they look like.  I am sure they will look great painted a variety of prim colors.

Talking about paint…. I decided to paint a wall that goes from my family room into my entry way.  I decided to go with the Bleached Wheat which I personally think was a favorite of all you prim gals out there.  After I looked at a bit longer, it ended up growing on me and I took the plunge.  I bought the paint on Friday and have been painting ever since.  I painted the one wall, but ended up painting the whole entry way and then down the hallway.  It needed it quite desperately.  When I bought the house, I was under the impression that they had painted the walls, but now I am thinking otherwise.  I ended up using 2 gallons of paint and I personally never thought that I would end up using that much.  Anyway, it is now completed and it looks great!  I am tired and worn out and enjoying the idea of re-decorating my home, but all that painting can definitely make a girl tired.  Here are just a few snap shots of the painting in progress.  More pics to follow tomorrow.

So, what do you think?  Looks pretty good so far – huh?  It took a couple coats, but it turned out beautifully.  I think eventually I will prime and then paint the rest of the family room the same color.  Right now it is gonna have to wait because quite frankly I am tired of painting (lol).  I just can’t imagine painting for a living.  Oh, I would get tired and worn out from that very quickly!!

Until Next Time…. Hope you all are enjoying your Labor Day Weekend!

Love the color ,Lisa! I spent saturday painting too and YES, I'm totally worn out from it, very strenuous it is:( I think those wooden bowls were called salad bowls, I remember my aunt had a set when I was young, but she only served chips and snacks in hers. Hope your having a lovely weekend:)

Lisa,
The walls are looking good!! Can't wait to see it after you get all your prim goodies back up.
About the thrift stores...I haven't found anything lately either. We stopped by the GW on the way to Josie's game yesterday and I found a rolling pin that was $2.99. They also had a 4ft wood shelf, but the price was $14.99!! I was shocked that it was that high as I got my 5ft one there a few months ago for $5.99.
Hope you are having a great Labor Day!!
hugs,
Cindy

Great wall color! I am not a fan of painting either but it is amazing what a simple change of wall color can do for a space.

I love the stitchery in your header. Did you find the pattern online?

Love the color! So pretty! Who makes it? I'd like to find a swatch of this "bleached wheat" and try it out. Where can I find it?

Those bowls will look great... but I agree... so much work! It's worthi it in the end though!
