I went to the thrift store the other day after dropping off a few things. I had some items to donate that have been in our closet for who knows how long. I thought that if I haven’t touched them in over a year then I don’t really need them. So, I packed up the car and dropped off the items. It was nice to have the extra room in the closet. I was just happy to be at the thrift store so I decided to go in and check things out. I didn’t really find anything except this picture. Oh My…. it totally isn’t my taste at all, but I loved the frame. I thought if I took out the picture and the glass then I would have a prim perfect frame to use. I still need to sand it a little bit, but I think it will be perfect when I am done with it. What do you think?
I love the wood and once I get it sanded a little bit then it will look even better. That was all that I found there, but at least I found something.
Now it is time to share a few things with you. Do you remember that little box I was going to hide my phone in. Well, it was a little bit too bright for me. This is what it looked like before.
I thought that I would apply some stain to it and darken it a little bit. I was planning on putting it on my kitchen countertops and I knew that it didn’t match my cabinets at all. So, once I applied the stain…. it looked alot better. Here is a picture of it now.
Great place to hide all of those hideous looking cords. Wouldn’t you agree? Now I just need to work on covering up those outlets. Oh…those stark white outlets are driving me crazy!!
Do you remember me mentioning to you in a previous post about Mom giving me some items that were in her basement? Well, I was able to get the other cabinet home the other night and thought I would share a picture with you today. So, are you all ready to see it? I absolutely love love love this cabinet. It looks a little yellow in the picture, but I think it is from the lighting in my home. It is actually a buttermilk color. Well, here is the picture of it.
Ok, well that is just part of it. Here is the rest ☺
Don’t you love it? Yep, I am in love with it. I would really like to have it out in my family room, but to be honest….. I have no more stinking room for it. I also thought about my kitchen and using it as a small pantry, but then I thought that would just be wasteful to not fill it up with prim goodies and have them on display – right? So, I am thinking that once I get our bedroom re-finished that I will have it in there, but I am still not sure. So, it will just stay in the spare room for right now until I figure it out. Do you ♥ it or what?
So, I am thinking about re-finishing my bedroom. I really want to move our bedroom back downstairs, but I hate to be on a different floor from Cameron? Our home does actually have a first floor master, but when Cameron was born, we moved our room upstairs into the spare room and now the spare room is the master. Does that make sense? Anyway, I am wanting to re-finish my master bedroom and move back downstairs. Do you all think that would be ok? I want to paint my room, put up some bead board and make some wood shutters. I really want to make it prim plus I would love to have all of the toys on one floor and that room being upstairs. I am just not sure about the room move. I guess when I have conflicting thoughts then I just don’t do it. Should I wait til he is a little older? Should I re-paint the room upstairs or what do you all think I should do?
Well, I better run for now. I have a little boy that is driving me absolutely crazy today. I guess you could say that the Horrendous 3’s have arrived and they are awful to say the least.
Until Next Time ~ Blessings, Lisa

I always check out the TS pictures for the frams--you can get such good deals!!! LOVE the new cupboard!
And the "horrendous threes" will pass... to the "flippant fours" (think attitude with better language skills--lololol)
And then one day they will be almost 24 years old and gone. (sob)
Love you blog!!

Hi Lisa...I love the cabinet. that was so sweet of Mom to give it to you.
Lisa,
Only you can decide if it is right for you to move to the downstairs master bedroom. There is not anything wrong with you being on the bottom floor as long as you will be comfortable. He is well loved and taken care of. It will not scar him...how about you though??
Love your new treasures. Your mom has great taste and a generous heart.
What fun for you to have a mom that you both have so many things in common and lives nearby now!!!...I love your cabinets...~~hugs,Jen
Lisa,
I loved the before and after of your little hiding spot for the phones!
I can honestly say when my kids were younger it was nice to be close. When we moved my daughter was only 4 and she had to be moved because we had three levels 2 bedrooms were upstairs including the master and she was downstairs. My son was 2 so we thought he should be closer. It was fine the only time it really made a difference was when she was sick. I think it teaches them some independence too. Do what you feel is right.

Lisa,
Nice cabinet! We have bedrooms on split levels. We have a bi-level home, with 3 bedrooms upstairs, and 1 downstairs. Two boys share a room downstairs. We moved them downstairs, but they were about 6 years old. I wouldn't see an issue with having a 3 yr old on the upper level, as you would be on the main level. When he's a teenager, you will WANT to be on another level! :)

I have a 3 yr old Granddaughter!

We have our children on an opposite floor and it works well. I used a baby monitor for a long time just to be able to hear them at night. But, it worked well having them upstairs. I would agree with others and do what is comfortable for you. You could always move downstairs and if it made you uneasy, you could certainly move back up again!
Love the goodies from your mom. Treasure them always. It must be so nice to able to share the love of prims with her.

I "HEART" everything!!!

I love your sweet little prim cabinet!!
I love how your phone fits into that box perfectly! How nice is that? What a wonderful cabinet! You sound like me in decision making! I always get excited about something, then I take forever to decide what to do with it. Lol! But I know whatever you decide, it will be prim wonderful!
Our 4 bedrooms are all on the second floor. We searched for a house that was like this and it was hard to find because so many have masters downstairs. If you have conflicting feelings, then I would say you are just not quite ready yet. Give yourself another year for Cameron to get a little older, then ask this question again. If you're not sure, then you're not ready. That's how I view it anyway. I hope you figure it out.
