Whatcya Working on Wednesday

I have been one busy gal lately.  I am trying my best to get ready for our garage sale this weekend.  I have been cleaning like some maniac lately and it feels so good to get the clutter out of the house.  I have said on numerous occasions that we are out growing this home and when you have things jammed and stuffed and stored everywhere……well, it tends to get a little cluttered and overwhelming to say the least.  So, our garage sale starts on Friday and it will carry through to Saturday.  I have tons of baby/toddler clothes and toys, primitive knick-knacks, a treadmill that I should be using, but have only used 4 times, a highchair, a baby swing, a prim wooden trash bin that someone made for me, but to be honest with you……. I think you could only fit  a hot dog in it.  It is so small and I was constantly taking the trash bag out and setting it beside the trash bin.  I hated having that out for all to see so I was quite relieved when I found the new one at the TS.  I just need to get on it and re-finish it.  I will probably do that after the garage sale so be watching for the make-over pics.  Anyway, here is what my garage currently looks like.  Oh yes, full of stuff to sell and I am hoping that I can make some money.

I have also been working on an item that I bought at the Goodwill Store about a week ago.  I knew when I first saw it that it had great potential and indeed it does.  I was thrilled with the way that it turned out, but I had to get a little creative so that is exactly what I did.  I haven’t been able to find small knobs at all.  I can only find the size that you would put on a kitchen cabinet door and I knew that would be too big.  So, after thinking and organizing the garage……. I got this brilliant idea!!  There was this item that I was going to sell and I thought that I could take the pegs and use those for knobs.  So, that is what I did.  I took these pegs and cut them off to make myself some wooden knobs.

I was definitely pleased after I got them to look more like knobs and after I got them on my TS shelf…… well, they looked perfect!  Let’s take a look at my shelf before the make-over.  Do you remember this purchase for $2.92.

BEFORE MAKE-OVER

107  Here it is now.  Doesn’t it look great?  I am so pleased with the way that it turned out.  The knobs are the perfect size and well I love the Barn Red over the Black.  So, what do you all think?  Are you in love as much as I am?  Ummm, now I need to find some prim pretties to place on the top and hang it up and it will be complete.  I’ll post pictures of it after I find the perfect home and decorations for it.  Stay Tuned for those pics!!

AFTER MAKE-OVER

029

Well, that is what I have been working on today.  I still believe it or not have more stuff to go out to the garage so I better get busy.  Have a great day Ladies.

Until Next Time……… Lisa

Could you discuss how you painted the box. I am wanting to try my hand at refinishing something but have absolutely no idea on how to get started, what paint colors to use or even where I should buy the paint. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck with the garage sale. Around here, it seems popular to have them on Thursday and Friday, or just for a Saturday. Once you weed out all the baby gear, it gets a little better. Of course as kids grow older, their toys become smaller, but more expensive! (video games, MP3, ipods, etc)

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your words of encouragement while visiting my blog. You're such a sweetie and I truly appreciate your prayers.

That box came out prim~perfect! I love it and how clever of you to think of using those knobs from another piece. I hope you post another picture of it when you get it placed and decorated.

Your new table is beautiful too. How wonderful of your mom to get it for you.

I hope you do well at your yard sale. Make lots of $$ for more prims!

Great job on the little drawer set!

This blog is so much fun - you have inspired me to rearrange some furniture and make the master bedroom more primitive/country. I need to post photos in my blog soon to show off :)

The makeover turned out great! Love it!

The font changes and all are really nice, the only thing is, for me and probably some others (I use Firefox), it's extremely, small...like it looks like a blur on the page. I had to zoom in quite a few times to get it that I could read it....

Have a great day!
