A Make-over & A Loss to the Prim World

Let me first of all start off by saying that the prim world will never be the same.  Ruth Rochelle passed away yesterday.  I am not sure if you know her or not, but she was the owner of “A Primitive Homeplace.”  Ruth and her husband were both very talented and have a beautiful home and a wonderful shop.  If you haven’t had the chance to check out her picture trail site then hop on over there and take a look.  You will be amazed by her beautiful saltbox home, her shop and so much more.  Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers!

On a much happier note…. I am here today to share with you a make-over.  Do you all remember that ugly trash bin that I purchased at my local GW store?  Well, I bought it for $5.99 and here is a BEFORE picture.

and…….. here is the AFTER picture!

I wasn’t too sure if it looked ok, but my Mom thought it looked great and so did my hubby so we are going to go with it.  Hey, for $5.99 and a little elbow grease and a paint job….. it looks pretty good to me!  Hope you enjoy the pictures and keep watching because tomorrow will be the make-over reveal for my ladder back chairs and trust me….. it is worth the wait.  Oh ~ here is another shot of my trash bin in my kitchen and I guess I will go ahead and give you a tiny sneak peek of one of my chairs (lol).  Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Mornin' Lisa....I am in such shock about Ruth I don't even know quite what to say yet....I have a list of links that I visit every day and last evening when I visited her site I was stunned to read the message....I know she hadn't been feeling well but had no idea that it was serious....I am just shocked....her and Jimmy had such a special relationship, I just can't believe it.

On a much brighter note, your trash bin turned out great and the peek of your chair looks great too!

Lisa, GREAT re-do on the trash bin. What a great piece to have in the kitchen - it looks great and hides the trash can. WOW.

I visit Ruth's picture trail everyonce and a while and drool over her pictures in Mercantile Gatherings and Country Sampler. We will all miss her and her energy. ~Ann

I also blogged about Ruth, I was saddened to read about this last night.

And, as you said, on a brighter note, your trash bin is awesome! Also enjoyed your textures, that was fun to take part in.

Wishing you a wonderful day,
Martha

I heard about Ruth's passing right before I saw your post...it's such a shock...I've had a couple of phone calls today from other prim enthusiasts...one of which knew her pretty well...it's still seems so unreal...
Been thinking about her family in prayer alot today...

Hope all's well with you prim pal!

Oh, my heart just aches to hear about Ruth! Such a wonderful lady and fabulous prim collector/designer. I never met her, of course, but admired her from seeing her photos in the magazines, and reading about her. She will be missed.

Your trash bin looks great!

Lisa,
I was sorry to hear about Ruth. I knew that they were going to be at the Country Gathering show that was at the fairgrounds, but they were not and I wondered why as I did not know that she was sick. Her DH and family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Your trash-bin redo turned out great!! Can't wait to see your chairs.
hugs, Cindy
