Garage Sale Success & Staining!

Today was a great success with the garage sale.  We opened up the garage and started dragging things out on to the driveway and people started coming on in.  It was funny because my DH thought that I wouldn’t sell many of my prim decorations that I had out there, but I guess today’s money just kinda proved him wrong (lol).  I sold quite a bit of prim goodies and was thrilled with the results.  We sold a pack n play, highchair, baby swing and a few other larger baby/toddler items.  I was just kinda shocked that I didn’t sell many baby clothes.  I have 3 tables full of baby clothes and they are actually real nice, stain free, barely worn and well it is all still sitting there.  So, I am hoping to sell more tomorrow.  Whatever doesn’t sell goes to the thrift store down the street so we will see.  After being open from 8am-2pm we made approx. $219.00 which isn’t too bad for a days work.  I am pleased with that, but hoping for more to be sold tomorrow.  My Mom told me after I posted my most recent make-over that it didn’t look like I had stained it.  Well, you know what!?!  She was right.  I totally forgot to stain it so after staining it with the Dark Walnut Stain…… I am re-posting it for you all to see.  I still of course need to hang it and decorate it, but I will post pics on that soon.  Here it is stained!

I also wanted to let you know that I made my font a bit larger.  I received a comment from Leslie stating that she uses FoxFire and that my font was real small so here is to hoping that it is a bit larger and easier on the eyes.  Hopefully you all don’t have to squint in order to see my blog now.  I am definitely into making you all happy so if there is ever anything I need to change on my end then be sure to just leave a comment and let me know.  Oh – We once again started potty training and Day1 went well.  We had 2 accidents and I personally didn’t think that was too bad.  It is definitely a hassle setting an alarm for every 20 minutes and taking him to the potty, but it has to be done and we just need to stick with it.  So, wish us luck as we continue to tackle Day 2 tomorrow.  Here is my little man enjoying some juice while we “try” to get him to go potty.  Gotta love that sweet smile.

Well, I have another busy day tomorrow so I better turn in for tonight.  Hope you all have a great day tomorrow.  It is suppose to be pretty hot here tomorrow so let’s hope we are able to stay somewhat cool and still make some money.  BIG MONEY, BIG MONEY!!  (lol).

Until Next Time…….. Lisa

Hi Lisa, I am on vacation in Puerto Rico and I decide to sold all the country decor that I had in my PR home. Last year, I leave that items when we move to VA, only I only move the items that are special to me. In two days I sold everything and I made $500. I can't wait to return to VA and make some shopping. Good luck with your sale!!! My little boy is in potty training too. He does not have problem with the number 1 but the number 2 is another story. Luck on this!!!

Wishing you well with the second half of your yard sale! Sounds like yesterday went well. And yes, the stain really enhances your little re-do project. Your Mom is shapr as a tack! LOL! I didn't notice that at all!

About the potty training, little boys are generally harder than girls, but I learned a trick that will make little boys really WANT to go and try harder! All you do is drop about 3 fruit loops, cheerios or some other ring type cereal in the toilet and let him "shoot" them. Make a game of it. The object is to sink the cereal! Believe me, he will catch on quick and start telling you when he needs to go. Good luck!

Great job on the yard sale so far! That's wonderful! Good luck with the rest!

Your little guy is doing great. Boy do I remember those days! One thing that my kids liked was sitting backwards on the potty (facing the tank)....for some reason that was exciting to them!

Have a great weekend, Lisa!

Good luck with the sale and the potty training. With my first son, I tried and tried and finally I gave up. One day i walked into the bathroom to find him sitting on his potty, reading a sales flyer from the grocery saying,"Apples...cookies...nanans..." I laughed my BUTT off! From that point on he was trained-day AND night. I just had to let him do it by himself I guess. My middle son was trained over a weekend at my mom's house while my dh and I were white water rafting. My youngest has to sit on the rim with the seat up. Don't know why, but I still catch him doing that (at 6!) lol Enjoy it while it lasts- they just gain more independence everyday after potty training!

Lisa,

I'm glad the sale made it worth your while. I've had little success with them. I like your little shelf with the stain, didn't really notice you had forgotten it. Good luck with the potty training.
