Wonderful Things & A Trip to the ER

Last night we had to end up taking Cameron to the ER. He has been running a fever since Friday, but yesterday evening it got as high as 104.7 and I was starting to get worried to say the least. Anytime he is sick......it always happens on the weekend when his doctor's office is closed. Imagine that - right? Well, I called the doctor's office and since it was after hours, it rings directly into the nurse triage at Children's Hospital. Well, they told me to bring him in if the Motrin wasn't kicking the fever so after about an hour and his fever not going down and him burning up...... we decided to take him in to the ER. I am glad that I did because it definitely helped give me peace of mind and help me sleep a bit better. Turns out that since his lungs were clear, no runny nose, no coughing and his ears looked ok and the strep test came back negative then they said it is probably a viral infection. I was happy it wasn't anything severe, but almost wish that they could have given him an antibiotic. I know that when it is a viral infection that they can't give an antibiotic that it just has to run the course, but it definitely doesn't make things any easier for him especially when he is miserable, restless, cranky and totally not himself. So, today we are just taking it easy, allowing him to rest and keep alternating the Motrin/Tylenol as frequently as he can take it and needs it.

Shawn's cousin came to visit yesterday. Stacey has her own blog, but isn't on it that much anymore. Anyway, her and I share the same love for primitives and she was so sweet to bring me some treats yesterday. Doesn't this plate of goodies look so yummy and delicious?!? She brought me a yummy cinnamon roll, an M&M cookie, a peanut butter cookie, chocolate chip cookie and a snickerdoodle cookie with icing. Mmmm, I pulled them out of the bag and this WONDERFUL aroma hit me smack dab in my face. Oh, it all smelled so good and just as I picked one up to take a bite, she informed me that they were fake. Yep, you heard me correctly! They were on a cute little prim plate and they were as fake as could be, but looked and smelled SO VERY REAL. Believe it or not, they are made out of cloth and well I couldn't believe how real they were. Don't they look real? If you get real close to your computer screen then you might possibly be able to scratch and sniff and see if you too can enjoy this wonderful aroma (lol). Just kidding (hahahahaha). Funny to think that there might actually be people out there that think they could do that - ya know?!? Oh my - that is funny!!
Thanks Stacey for the wonderful treats even if they were fake (lol). You are too sweet and didn't have to, but I love the fact that you did : ) Hope to see you again soon!! Thanks for everything, but most of all for your wonderful friendship. I love hanging out with you and I hope you enjoyed your tour of North Shore Primitives!! I am sure you did - who wouldn't - right?
Shortly before we went to North Shore Primitives, I met a gentleman that was selling some ladder back chairs on Craiglist. I wasn't too crazy about the idea especially after you hear so many weird stories, but DH took me and Stacey and Cameron were along for the ride as well. I mean for $25.00 for a pair of ladder back chairs...... uh, I thought that was a deal that I couldn't and shouldn't pass up!
I picked up the chairs and fell in love with them. I am going to end up painting them black to match my farm table, but aren't they just great? They are in wonderful shape and so sturdy. I think I will probably end up putting them on each end of my table once it is made and if I can find more then great, but if not, I will just make some benches for the sides of the table. I guess I will have to keep looking. In the meantime.......Let's take a closer look - shall we?
Oh my - so sorry for all my squealing, but I am just SUPER excited about finding these wonderful beauties. I was SUPER excited when he told me that he would sell me one for $15.00 or two for $25.00. Uh yeah, I think I will take both of them thankyouverymuch! So, what do all of you prim ladies think of my ladder back chairs? Do you like them as much as me?
Stacey and I went to the Goodwill Store on our way home from North Shore Primitives and let me just tell you that I hit the jackpot!! FINALLY - I was able to hit the jackpot and I am thrilled to show you those goodies, but I must first let you soak in all of this. So, enjoy this post and my lovely goodies that I had to share with you and I will be back here sometime tomorrow to share with you all of my TS finds and trust me......there are some good ones. Ok, they are all good, but you must wait til tomorrow. Right now - I am off to snuggle with my sick boy. I hate it when he is sick, but I must admit that I love the snuggle time!!

Hi, Lisa! Sorry to hear Cameron's not feeling well. When my son was little, probably about Cameron's age until he was in kindergarten/1st grade, he would occasionally get a fever for a day or two. No other symptoms, just a fever. I'd take him to the doctor and he could never find anything wrong with him and said it was common with some boys during their growth spurts. One of my sisters is a nurse at a children's hospital and also has two boys. She agreed with my doctor and one of her boys experienced the same thing. Hope he feels better soon.
Great deal with the chairs. Can't wait to see them with your farmhouse table!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
~Kris~

First of all, so sorry to hear that your baby is sick. I hope by now he is much better! That sure is a high fever. Very scary!

Love the plate of fake goodies. They do look real!

And also love your ladder backs. Years ago, I found a farm table and 4 ladderbacks. I convinced hubby that I couldn't live without them, so he bought them for me! And for a great price! :D
We still have them and use them everyday. For awhile I put them in storage, but have recenty brought them back out again. I don't have pics of them in my home tour, as those are older pics. I really should take some new pics soon and update. Our's are very sturdy and even the seats are in good shape. I know you will enjoy your's.

Lisa,

My son had two bouts of viral stuff two times in a row in 2 weeks that kept him out of school at the end of the school year. He survived and no one else got it but it was miserable he had a high fever too. Hugs to your little guy I hope he feels better soon.

Lisa, I really hope Cameron feels better soon. It is not fun at all when they are sick. My son used to do the same thing when he was 2-4. He would run a fever, rather high for 2-3 weeks. They tried the antibiotics and he would do 2 full prescriptions and still have a fever. It just needed to run it course. He would feel so much better when the motrin kicked in, but it always wore off,I just hated to keep pouring it down him. It would also make him sick to his stomach. So, please know that it does go away sooner or laterand they seem to out grow it. Good you took him in to be checked though. Can't wait to see your new finds! Jayne

Love your ladder back chairs!! You got a great buy on them!

Did you go to our GW? I was there on Friday morning...got a couple of things, but boy were they really stocking the shelfs. I had a feeling that later on Friday or Saturday they might have alot of goodies out. However, I didn't make it back out...not been feeling the greatest. I think that my gall-bladder is acting up and I'm going to see the doctor this week. Can't wait to see what you found!
