Today was yet another fun-filled day here at my home. I didn't start working on my countertops til late in the afternoon, but I had to make sure that I gave my one set enough time to dry. They look so good and I can't wait to show you more pictures, BUT today is not about my countertops. They are about my TS makeovers. Do you remember this hideous looking gameboard? Well, I bought it back in April and I am just now getting around to doing something with it (lol). I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with it and I finally decided. I guess it just required me getting into a funk and then jumping on out of that funk in order to figure it out. Well, let's take a look shall we?

Here is the BEFORE picture
Much better don't you think?
I bought this shelf in April as well. I was planning on giving it to my MIL. She is still into the hearts and has quite a few shelves with hearts so I thought I would just prim this one up for her a little bit. I bought it at the TS for $2.59 and it was just a plain natural wood color. Definitely boring so I just primmed it up a bit and VOILA - it made it look so much better!! The colors just in case anyone is interested is Buttermilk over Raw Sienna (brown). My in-laws just moved into their new place and they painted the walls brown, so I thought that would look pretty and give things a new and improved prim look. Do you like it? I would much rather have a star then a heart, but it looks better if I do say so myself.
Oh and I thought that you all probably REALLY CAME BACK to see my countertops so I thought that I would give you just a small sneak peek. So, if you are ready then hold on to your pants and take a look. Don't you just {heart} this picture?
Yep, I must say that I get all giddy when I look at this picture!! I am SUPER pleased with the way the first section turned out. There were a few areas that didn't take to the stain, but my DH says that it gives it a more prim look. I guess I didn't sand down certain areas as much as what I should have to get the Liquid Nails off, but it is just a small area here and there and it definitely doesn't bother me enough to worry about putting them up and calling it quits. Well, I hope you all enjoyed the sneak peek. More to come tomorrow!!

Drooling all over my keyboard...which is not a good thing!
Lisa~ you're such a tease! Those are looking great so far!!!Love what you did with the gameboard too:)
Those countertops are fabulous!! Can't wait to see the finished project. And as soon as you finish yours, you are more than welcome to come over and make mine. I have the woodshop with all the tools and wood. You don't need to bring anything. I'll even buy one of those biscuit thingys. I'll cook for you too. When you coming over?? LOL!!!
Wow, the gameboard looks great! And you did a nice job on the shelf. I pass thsoe up with the heart cut-outs all the time. But some people really love hearts, so it doesn't bother them. I have a cabinet with 4 hearts cut out of the door (it was an anniversary gift years ago) and I plan to cover them somehow or take the door off and cut a long rectangle and put chicken wire on it.
Your counters are looking incerdible! That is something I have always wanted to do, but we are not sure how much longer we will live here. I don't want to do all that work and then have to leave them behind, or tear them out.
Have a great week!
I love your game board remake and I think I have one of those heart shelves in my attic. Yours turned out great. I may need to go thriftin in my attic. lol. I'll keep watching for more countertop updates. Looks great so far.
Have a great day.

Love the makeovers and I can't wait to see the finished counter tops! I've never tried a biscuit joiner before and thought it would be difficult, but if you say it's not, then I'm game! lol
Lisa,
I just love how your gameboard turned out!! And the heart shelf too! I have our guest room decorated in a primitive/cottage feel and I have a shelf just like that one in there with a heart cut out. Josie calls it her room and she says it is dreamy!
Can't wait to see your contertops all done!
hugs, Cindy
