Not Much Happening

Where in the world have I been?  Well, if you must know… I have been right here in my home with not much to do and definitely not a whole lot to report.  The cold weather is just not for me and the rain is for the birds!!  There is snow in our forecast for Saturday and I think to myself “Where is the Fall weather?”  I have been thinking alot lately about this winter.  What in the world am I going to do with myself when I can’t get outside and work on my prim goodies that I so enjoy working on?  I told my hubby that I was going to stock up on wood and make some signs and I was even going to try to start stitching.  I love the little towel that Sherrie sent me so I was going to try my hand at it and see if I couldn’t try to make some cute little towels myself.  I guess we will see.  Anyway, I was down and out with a migraine today and Shawn stayed home with me.  It was nice being able to sleep and rest while he took care of Cameron.  I think around 4 pm my migraine started to disappear a bit and I was feeling much better.  It is strange because I never use to get migraines until after Cameron was born and now I have them about once a month or every other month.  Ughhh, I hate it when I get them.

Yesterday evening I decided to work on a few things here and there.  I have been meaning to hang up all of my game boards and I finally got to it plus I hung up my towel rack.  I am just not totally sold on the way that my towel rack looks so if you all have any suggestions that would be great.  I wish I could put a bowl or something up there, but it is not meant for anything except towels.  So, what do you all think of it?  It seems to be missing something, but I just can’t figure it out.

Here are my game boards that I hung up in my hallway.  I still have a few more to make and I also have a sign that says “Game Boards” so I still need to make it and get it up on the wall.  Yep, I am always working on something or at least thinking about something (lol).

Here are a few more pics of tweaking that I have done here and there.  I think I am pretty happy with the way my family room turned out.  What do you think?  Do you think it looks ok?

This is some tweaking I did in my kitchen a little while back.  I love how it turned out.  I just wanted to clear off my countertops a little bit here and there and that helped me accomplish that goal.

Anyway, that is pretty much all that I have done lately.  I did go to the thrift store a couple days ago and found three ladder back chairs.  Totally fell in love with them especially for $9.00, but the cane seating was in AWFUL shape.  It looked like the previous owners had cats and the cats must have used the cane seating as a scratching post so I left them there and was quite upset that I had no idea how to re-cane them.  Ughhh, what a disappointment!

I leave you with this tonight…. we went to the pumpkin patch over the weekend and I bought a couple things for myself, but my favorite thing was this gourd that I found.  I am going to try to dry it when Fall is over and hopefully it will turn out for next year.  I guess we will see.  Can you imagine how great it would look dried and in my Fall decorations?  Wish me luck ladies!

Lisa...I am not all that great a decorator, but I was wondering if you could hang your towel rack the other way...upside down perhaps. The towels would hang a bit lower on the bottom, and you would have space above for a sign which may fill in what you think you are missing. As I said..I am no professional, and it is hard to tell if that can even be done from just a photo, but it's a thought...

Try adding a small bunch of drieds such as sweet annie to the towel rack for a different texture. Glad you r feeling better. Love all the tweaking looks great!

Lisa,

I love how your gameboards turned out. If you make more I will probably be in line 1st, LOL! I have a whole house to fill up. I'm starting to see a lot of bare walls in here. Thanks for leaving me some comments, it always means so much.

Love how the gameboard look...as for the towel rack...I think it looks great so far...I like what Lisa said about the drieds being added...you could also add a ladle candle holder too...or maybe a small ditty bag with some drieds in it.

Lisa, so sorry you had to endure that kind of pain today. So nice of hubby to take care of Cameron so you could rest. Love all the tweaking you have done. Now, the towel rack....I think you just need MORE towels, you can even overlap afew. Do you a sign that says HOMESPUN and hang above it. I will send you a "bunch "of tallow berries to hang from it. I will be harvesting them in a few weeks. That was tallow berries that was in the crock on the notecard.
Hope you don't get snow this week-end. It is suppose to be really pretty here...in the 60's and low 70's. Take care. Sherrie

That's a really neat gourd! I love your towel rack, maybe just a simple little prim sign above it? Glad to hear the migraine eased up, and I never had a migraine in my life till after my son was born, and now I get one every month to 2 months! My son is almost 18 now and I STILL get them, I wonder if its some hormonal change that occurs?

Everything looks great, Lisa! But I'm thinking along the line that Char is...it might look more full with more fabric on it. If you have any osnaburg or something, rip strips off the edge to fray it, fold it and hang. Maybe even do a plaid, a check, or small print for the other bar (tuck the top one down behind the bottom one) and then put your smaller towels over. And a Homespun sign above would be perfect. Drieds and a candle holder would be great finishing touches too. Just experiment...I think more fabric may be the key here :) I keep meaning to do that on my ladders, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm crossing my fingers for NO snow yet here in my part of Ohio! My son's football game on Saturday is going to be a COLD one-only a high of 42! Stay warm!

Tweaking looks great! So so your gameboards. Your towel rack looks fine, but if you wanted to add something to it, add some dries.

Sorry to hear about the migranes, I have had those in the past. Bad things.

Stay warm up in northern Ohio.

Be Blessed~ Kim

Hope the headache has subsided some. They are horrible - I live with them constantly so I feel for you.

The tweaking you did is wonderful as always. I love seeing all the changes you do. Your home has the potential for that - lots of walls to work with. We don't have many clear walls, it's all taken with doorways and windows.

Maybe you could add some candles draped over the rack or a ladle with a tealight? All of the other suggestions sound great also. Good luck.

I'm with you on this weather. It really stinks. We can't go more than 2 days without gloom and rain. Where is that Indian Summer?

Glad you are feeling better. Your decorating looks great.

I'm thinking you should go back and get those chairs.......look in the yellow pages or ask around if anybody knows someone who can put new bottoms in those chairs. Just my opinion.

I think Lisa's idea of hanging some dried up on your towel rack but also maybe some tapered candles too.
Your gameboards look great!
I love, love, love that blue cupboard with the cubby in the bottom.
Glad your sweetie stayed home to help out with Cameron when you had your migraine. They're awful! He's a keeper!
Hugs to you~ Birgit
