Game board hallway almost complete

I am happy to report that in between helping my parents and baking Christmas goodies that I have been able to make some more signs and game-boards.  I have slowly been making game-boards so I could finish my hallway off.  I thought it would be neat to put game-boards down each side of my hallway and I must say that I am glad that I did.  It is slowly taking shape and I love all of the game boards that I have made.  It really makes the hallway look so prim and warm.  So, are you all ready to see some pictures that I took?  Here are some of my newest game boards…..  the first one of course is my favorite.  I just love those colors together!!

I will be adding these to my selling blog if anyone is interested in purchasing one or some of them.  I also will be adding a sign that I recently made for my hallway.  I thought it would look great on the wall just right as you entered into the hallway.  I was definitely pleased with the way it turned out as well.  Here is a picture and I will add this to my selling blog as well.

Don’t you love that game board sign?  It is relatively big, but perfect for my hallway.  Here are some other shots of my hallway.  Enjoy!!

As you can see…. there are still a few bare spots so I will be adding a few more boards to my collection.  Of course a prim gal can’t have any bare spots – right? (lol).  Yep, I think I could at least add 4 more boards or maybe 5.  Hmmm, let the search continue for more stencils (hahaha).  I might even create my own game board, but I guess you will all have to wait and be patient.  I know…… us prim gals don’t have alot of patience (lol).

Well, I need to finish some of my baking……  my kitchen is a mess!

Mom’s New Home Tour – Part 1

As I promised in my previous post….today is the day that you all get to see some of Mom’s new home.  We still have alot to get decorated, but it is slowly getting done.  I try to go over a couple times a week to just help her decorate, but she has so much stuff that it gets overwhelming.  Anyway, here are some pictures to start with.  We will start in the kitchen, but be aware that this room isn’t totally finished yet.  We still need to work on decorating the top of her cabinets and there are a few things that she still wants to hang, but here is just a taste.  Enjoy!!

It is definitely taking shape.  She had her light above the island put in.  Doesn’t it look beautiful?  She is going to change her curtains above the kitchen sink as well.  Vickie from North Shore Primitives is making them and I must say that they are real cute and very prim!  I still need to finish putting some of the knobs on the cabinet doors and drawers, but we are slowly getting there.  Here are some items that are around Mom’s kitchen.  Just some of her cute decorations.  Don’t you love her dried apples and I totally love her old keg.  She put an old flour sifter in the top and filled it with artificial potatoes and garlic and an old antique scoop.  Great idea – huh?

Her family room isn’t totally done yet, but I will show you a little bit of it.  More to come so stay tuned!

Don’t you love Mom’s tree?  It is just like mine…..we bought them at North Shore Primitives.  The neat thing about Mom’s tree is that she has old cross stitched pillows on her tree.  Yep, she cross stitched each and every pillow.  Here is a close up of those.  I love them because they were made by her!!  Yep… I am being sentimental again (lol).

Aren’t they great?  My Mom was always into cross stitching.  She could stitch for hours and hours.  Here are some Christmas pillows that she made.  I just love these as well.

Let’s take a look at her dining room.  Shall we?  This is pretty close to being finished.

Here is her front room.  This room is completed, but we are still trying to figure out how to hide those nasty electric cords.  Geesh, those things are so unsightly.

Ladder back Chairs & More

Do you remember my other ladder back chairs that I found on craigslist?  Well, since I had my farm table, I wanted some prim looking ladder back chairs to go with my table.  I found two awhile back and re-finished them.  I loved the way that they turned out, but I still needed more.  So, I have been searching craigslist to see if I could find some more.  Well, after many months of searching for more ladder back chairs…. I found more!!  I was so excited to find some more.  Of course they don’t match the others exactly, but I can put these on the sides of the table and the other two at the ends of the table.  The fiber rush seats are not in that great of shape, but within time I am hoping to have them re-finished.  I didn’t have a clue as to how expensive it was to re-finish the seats, but it is quite expensive.  They will re-finish the seats, but they charge by the inch and if you think about it…. the seating has to be sturdy enough to hold someone so think about how many inches they would need to make it sturdy enough.  Yep, that is alot of inches (lol).  Anyway, I am going to re-finish my new chairs in black of course so they match the other two and I will just simply cover the seats up with some prim chair pads until I can get them re-done.  So, are you ready to see my ladder back chairs?  I was definitely pleased with my find, but just wish they were in a little better shape.  I guess after I finish them…. they will look ALOT better.  Anyway, here are the chairs.

Don’t you love them?  Can you imagine them re-finished in black?  They will be prim perfect!!  Here is a closer look.

As you can see….. the chairs on the right are the ones in worse shape, but the ones on the left can definitely be lived with.  So, are you ready to hear about my GREAT,  WONDERFUL, EXCELLENT deal?  Hold on to your hats because if I thought it was a good deal then I am sure you will as well.  I purchased all 4 ladder back chairs for a total of $30.00.  Did you hear me?  Yep, I said $30.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was very pleased myself.  The gentleman that I purchased them from actually buys items at auctions and then re-sells them.  He had a whole barn full of items.  Of course some items were better then others, but he had quite a few nice goodies to say the least.

I also wanted to let you all know that we have been working long and hard hours to get Mom settled into her home.  She is settled, but we are slowly working on decorating every corner and every inch of every room.  We thought it would easy, but when you have so many boxes full of prim goodies……well, it can tend to be overwhelming to say the least.  The good news is that we have some pictures that we would like to share with you.  So, if you are ready to see them, then we are ready to share them…..tomorrow!  Did you actually think it would be today?  You silly girls!! (lol).  So, be sure to be watching my blog tomorrow for some prim goodness displayed in Mom’s new home.

Hate the Cold, Love the Snow, Miss Being Able to Craft!!

Well, if you have been following my blog for awhile then you know that I hate the cold weather.  It did however start snowing this morning here in Ohio and I must say that it is beautiful.  I do love the snow, but hate the cold weather.  With the cold weather here, it makes it very hard for me to go outside and work on my crafts.  We don’t have a basement so if I want to craft then I have to go outside and sand everything, bring it into the house to work on it and then head back out to sand it and stain it.  It is just a hassle at times.  I have so many new things that I want to make, but it is just too cold to go outside and  be cold.  I know…… I probably sound like a chicken, but the cold is just not a good thing for my lungs.  My asthma makes it real hard and difficult to breath especially when it is real cold and the wind is blowing……Ughhhh!!

Anyway, I received some new stencils this past week.  I was super excited because I have been wanting them, but haven’t had the funds to get them.  I ordered quite a few and I am so wanting to get started, but we will just have to wait and see.  I ordered a stencil that says “Homespun” and I am so excited to get that finished and put up.  I ordered 3 new game boards so I could hopefully finish my hallway, I ordered 2 Christmas signs and I think there was something else too, but I can’t remember it right now.  The cold is freezing my brain (lol).  I do have a board that my FIL cut for me yesterday.  I am going to get that finished and added to my game board hallway.  It is really going to add.  It says Game Boards, but it is a vertical stencil and it has a star in between Game and Board.  I am anxious to get that started too.  Hmmm, maybe I could get my sweet hubby to help with the sanding.

Oh – did I tell you that I have another light to re-finish?  My Mom was going to pitch this light that was in her new home and well I told her that I would take it.  Yep, I think I will have to re-finish it just like the other one.  It will be prim perfect when I am done with it.  Here is a picture of it.  Definitely has the same potential as did my other chandelier that I found at the thrift store and re-finished for only $9.99, but this one was *FREE*.  Can’t beat that – can ya?

Did I tell you that I took my Mom to North Shore Primitives on Saturday?  Vicki has the place decorated so beautifully and they have so many beautiful things.  Yep, we both had to splurge just a little and here are the things that I found while I was there.  I absolutely loved this.  Totally fell in love with it when I saw it so I have to find me a spot on my wall and of course fill it with some prim pretties!!

I also liked the candle that is hanging so I picked one of those up too.  Here is a close-up.

I have been searching high and low for some bowls for my bowl rack and found this one.  I would have preferred it in a different color, but I thought it would work for now.

Lastly, I also picked up another tree.  I absolutely loved these trees.  They looked so authentic and well I had to have one.  I decorated with some simple items.  I made some gingerbread star ornaments and put those on there along with a prim cloth ring garland made out of homespun.  I will probably put some lights on it, but just haven’t made it that far yet.  Let’s take a look at this.  I just love how it looks so real.

            

So, what do you think?  Don’t ya love it?  Hope you all are doing well.  I am going to run for now.  I am going to go enjoy the snow falling, but of course stay inside (lol).  Stay Warm!!
